MAKING REFUGE

Making Refuge

Rituals of Remembrance through the Long Dark

We are living in extraordinary and impossible times, where the future of our precious world feels increasingly unknown. So too, it is a time ripe with possibility for transformation, as we are being invited into knowing that there is a deeper and more ensouled way of being in the world.

We feel the urgency in our bones – we must remember how to belong to ourselves, one another, and the wider web of life once more. To gather in ways that respond to these times in beauty, hope and imagination.

Some say we have entered what beloved elder Francis Weller calls the Long Dark; a season of collective descent where we are being invited, individually and collectively, to plunge our roots into the darkness, to surrender our stories of separation, and find the courage to hear the burning call of our soul’s longing to come wholly alive.

“In a dark time, the eye begins to see…”

Roethke

Making Refuge is a space of remembrance and return to the refuge of our hearts.

A place to tend to the holy grounds of our lives;  to grieve, to pray, to fall apart, to come undone, together. It is a container which weaves together rituals, ceremonies and contemplative practices to support us as we descend into the fertile dark.

This is a space to enter deep-time, to listen deeply, to bathe in the wellspring of imagination, to hear the voices of longing and the prayers for life that dwell within our depths, so that we may find our generativity, courage and creativity in these darkening times.

Together, we go for refuge – co-creating the more beautiful, hopeful, and ensouled world our hearts know is possible.

“Modernity has put us in a trance of separation. Ceremony helps me remember how to be part of the whole again.”

Pat McCabe

Sessions include; tea ceremony, grief rituals, meditative & contemplative practices, creative processes, song, dreaming and prayer within a communal space of women.
